Pillsbury Bake-Off's Mini Ice Cream Cookie Cups

Sue Compton of Delanco, N.J., wins a million dollars for for her Mini Ice Cream Cookie Cups in the 44th Pillsbury Bake-Off. Congratulations Sue! Your treats were wonderful!

Sue is single mother, doesn’t own a computer and is adored by her 29-year-old son, Jon, who's in medical school.

In our opinion Sue was the hands-down favorite with the press corps covering the Bake-Off for various magazines, newspapers and blog sites around the country.

“She’s just so cute,” was the first thing you’d hear about Sue whenever her name got mentioned in the Press Room.

Cute indeed! Sue’s smile is infectious and her overall approach to Bake-Off stardom seemed to be a combination of humility and disbelief.

When asked what she planned to do with her million-dollar prize, Sue laughed and said she’d probably buy a computer, help her son with his medical school tuition and save for an early retirement.

Sue said she and her son Jon are "incredibly close" and when Sue's name was announced in Orlando as the Sweet Treats category winner, Jon was literally jumping for joy. The four category winners (click here for more info) were announced Monday night at an awards ceremony in Orlando. (The Bake-Off Grand Prize winner is always selected by the panel of 12 judges from among the four category winners.)

All four winners flew to Chicago to appear on Wednesay's Oprah Winfrey Show, and Sue was crowned the winner at about 10:30 a.m. with the first telecast appearing in the Midwest in Central Time. Hope you got a change to tune in to watch Sue's million-dollar reaction!

I fell in love with this family when the son yelled, "Way to go mom!" when she was announced as a finalist. I am so happy for her! Congratulations Sue! *Pillsbury did pay our expenses to attend the bake-off as media to cover the event.*

Oh my goodness! Those look absolutely sinful. I don't care how much sugar or how many calories are in those, I want to eat that whole platter. I might just have to try out the recipe this weekend. smile
