Halloween Yes or Halloween No? What’s it like at your house?

I’m done with Halloween. In fact I’m trying to figure out how to avoid it altogether.
Do I put a bowl of candy out on the porch and a note to say Happy Halloween?
Or do I just go upstairs and turn all the lights off?
I sound like a witch for sure, but I’m just past being interested. Are you into Halloween?

From Jason, via Facebook: I just told my mother yesterday that if she doesn't want to pass out candy to the kids, I could call the Utica P.D. and ask for one of those "no candy here" pumpkins signs they're making the sex offenders put up. She laughed hysterically.

I'm laughing hysterically, too, at the pumpkin sign idea. I'm a Halloween hater, too. We've never gotten many trick-or-treaters at our house and the ones we used to get must be grown and gone now. I don't mind. My dh and kids are at our church's trunk or treat right now, freezing and handing out candy. I'm home, reading, relaxing,(warm) and surfing the net. I'm quite happy with my choice. Oh, and Alicia-we used sawhorses across the end of the driveway when we'd leave to take the kids to church. Dh put them at the end of the drive tonight, too, just in case, so I wouldn't be bothered. Isn't that sweet? Can you block your house off so you don't have to sit in the dark?

I have always loved, loved Halloween! The best part is seeing the really little kiddies in their costumes. And when mine were tiny, they got so excited and that was contagious. But Halloween is quite different when you don't have kids at home. Did anybody see Monday's Gossip Girl where Rufus was dressing up to pass out candy and Lily had to PAY kids to come and trick or treat?! Hilarious. That's sort of me....all tricked out and nowhere to go. So, sadly, this year we're probably going to go see an early movie, and Yes, I'm going to leave a bowl of candy out on the steps!
