Home can be the best cooking school

In Coffee and Convo
Every time one of my girls talks about cooking, people ask me where they took cooking lessons. The answer is simple: at home.
Hanging out in the kitchen is the best way for anyone to learn. (Not necessarily from a relative – if you have a friend who is a good cook, go watch them do it!) It’s the way I learned in the beginning, and then as my interest grew, I attended formal cooking demonstrations to learn more difficult techniques.
But at the end of the day I am just a “home cook.” Pure and simple. Where did you learn to cook?

My Books
Our Cookbooks rock!
What you're saying..
I bought Cheap. Fast. Good! from Amazon a while ago and it's honestly my favorite cookbook EVER! And I own a lot of cookbooks!
The recipes are healthy enough for me and they taste good enough for my husband. I spend practically nothing on groceries anymore and always have something good to make for dinner.
I've never been able to make a weekly menu because I just don't know ahead of time what we're going to be in the mood for, but with frozen cooked meats in the freezer and your recipes, I can always come up with just the right meal.
Thank you!!!!!

The top 5 indiviudals that have contributed to my cooking lessons over the years include: 1) my grandmother, 2) mom, 3) my sister, 4) two close girlfriends, 5) my neighbor lady, who at 81, has more recipes in her head than my 400+ cookbook collection. All are, or were, fabulous home cooks.
