In case you've been under a rock -- the Superbowl kicks off this coming Sunday. We usually snack in front of the TV, and as far as the he-man fans are concerned, the more food the better. So pull out the dips, the meatballs and cocktail weenies, the guacamole and salsa and spread it out all over the coffee table.
Here are some tips for Superbowl snacking success:
- Cover the coffee table with a small tablecloth (a vinyl one is nice). This protects the furniture but also can set the theme if you find one decorated with footballs.
- Set up a card table in a corner for a beverage station. (A small empty garbage can is good as the recycle bin.)
- Pull out the Crock-Pot to help keep food hot and eliminate stove time. If you happen to have more than one Crock-Pot, so much the better.
- Spiral trays of ready-to-go shrimp cocktail tend to go on sale around Superbowl Sunday and often include the cocktail dipping sauce. They’re impressive, easy and people love them.
- Do make this recipe for Meatloaf Sliders. Forget football players -- with a spread like this, you’re going to be the star they cheer for.

Meatloaf sliders are definitely a Super Bowl, and an overall football classic. There is nothing like the sauce dripping down your chin when the game winning touchdown is scored, if of course the food is still around by then!

Beef sandwiches and my personal favorite. The thing is that the children are running and hiding from me because I want to eat them like Godzilla.

The leftover meatloaf sandwich was alway my favorite part of having meatloaf for dinner, but a meatloaf slider is brilliant. Seems like my procrastination has paid off as I can now change my super bowl menu without having to figure out how to fit the old SB menu ingredients into next weeks dinner.
