Featured Recipe: Six-Minute Cranberry-Orange Relish
About ten years ago Beverly turned me onto the wonders of adding a little something extra to canned whole-berry cranberry sauce. I was missing the cranberry relish that my grandmother used to make with fresh-from-the-farm ingredients. If I couldn’t find time for my grandmother’s two-hour recipe, I was inclined to skip cranberry relish altogether.
Beverly encouraged me to compromise rather than relinquish, and I have never looked back. Each year since, I have tinkered with various quick ingredients that I stir into the relish just before the feast is served.
The time I have to spend cooking, even on Thanksgiving Day, hasn’t changed, but my quick cranberry relish takes on a different nuance each year. This recipe for Six-Minute Cranberry-Orange Relish is close to my grandmother’s original relish yet only requires, literally, six minutes start to finish. Compromise never tasted so good.

I have finally decided that cranberry sauce must be the most flexible condiment there is! As long as you put in 12 ounces of cranberries and a bunch of sugar, white or brown, and some liquid to boil it all down in (OJ?!), you'll have the base of a brilliant sauce. Same goes for a raw relish. This whole process takes about 15 minutes start to finish. However, if you don't have fresh berries, this method in today's blog is really good too!

wow, that looks beautiful. I can't wait to try and make it, although I am certain mine won't look anything as nice or presentable as that.
