Sangria for Summer

Recipe Directions

2 bottles (750 ml each) dry red wine*
1 small can (6 ounces) frozen lemonade concentrate
1 cup rum or brandy
1 cup triple sec, or other orange-flavored liqueur
2/3 cup orange juice
1 lemon
4 cups chilled ginger ale
2 oranges sliced for garnish, if desired*

In a one-gallon pitcher or other container, combine wine, frozen lemonade concentrate, rum, Triple Sec, and orange juice. Slice lemon, and add. Stir well and refrigerate until chilled through, at least 2 hours.

Just before serving, stir in ginger ale. Serve over ice, in wine glasses, garnished with orange slices, if desired.

* Cooking Notes

Feel free to use an inexpensive red table wine.

Other fresh or canned fruit chunks, such as pineapple, peaches or strawberries, can be used for garnish or stirred into the sangria. Feel free to be creative!
